Which famous person in history who is idolized, was actually a horrible person?

Prince Saleem aka emperor Jahangir of Mughal Empire.
Today, most Pakistani and Indian people adore him for his scandalous affair with Anarkali as we think of this as a tale of “true love”.
There are probably many people in India who have enjoyed watching Mughal-e-Azam Film. Still others might remember him for his obsession with queen Noor Jahan.
Some people share tales of his “Chain of Justice”. There is also the Hiran Minar near Lahore which the emperor had built in the memory of his pet animal.
All of this information is very much in the main stream and most people know about this. But here is what they don’t know.
Prince Saleem was a pervert. On one occasion, a servant informed him that two birds from his collection had engaged in sex. The prince asked why he wasn’t informed, the servant apologized. Saleem told him to call him if this happened again. The next day, the “desired incident” did happen and the servants called upon their master. He greatly enjoyed the spectacle and wrote about it in detail in his Auto Biography.
He was a chronic addict. He used to consume alcohol extensively and complimented it with Opium. At one point he made an honest attempt to overcome his addiction. But, then he married Noor Jahan who encouraged him to resume his typical dose along with other pleasures. He states that he has affectively handed over the state to Noor Jahan as Opium and Alcohol is all he cares about.
He was a rapist and a pedophile. I'm not talking about the large number of slave girls and “wives” that he had. Instead, I want to mention this under-age boy who was purchased from slave traders. His genitals were removed without his consent and he was forced to become a sex slave of the prince.
This particular incident is important because the boy actually made an attempt to escape from captivity. He was caught and punished severely. The punishment given to the boy was flaying. Which means that that his skin was removed from his body while keeping him alive as long as possible. Keep in mind that the boy was barely fifteen years old.
All of these incidents are mentioned in detail by the prince himself in his Auto-Biography(Tuzuk-i-Jahangiri). The book was originally written in Persian but I read its Urdu translation.
